Fitness Educator Opportunities — CFES is looking for qualified fitness professionals to implement our fitness instructor and personal trainer certification courses. 

Each CFES Educator is a talented, educated and experienced leader in their field of work. All have on-the-floor experience, a proven track record of excellent teaching skills, and a sincere commitment to advance the professionalism and consistency in delivery of fitness instructor and personal trainer courses and certification.

The role of the Educator is to teach CFES fitness leadership workshops and courses, with the learning outcome of certifying knowledgeable, confident and employable fitness instructors and personal trainers.

We believe every community deserves to have quality courses and workshops available locally. If you would like to teach any of our course modules please give us a call to determine your qualifications and discuss the variety of ways to implement these programs to meet your community needs. Distant Education Recertification Workshops Required
Help us develop more distant continuing education credit (CEC) recertification workshops for certified fitness instructors and personal trainers. If you already have a workshop for home study learning, or have one that can be developed for online courseware delivery give us a call to discuss project collaboration.

CFES National Educator Certification Requirements

1. Prerequisites:
Individuals qualify to be certified by CFES as an Educator may include (the list is not complete):
❑ CFES certified Instructor and or Personal Trainer with excellent experience and professional reputation;
❑ Physical Education teacher;
❑ College professor in related field;
❑ University student in related field;
❑ University professor in related field;
❑ Health and Wellness presenter, manager/supervisor in related field;
❑ Fitness Program Director;
❑ Fitness Club Manager.
❑ Advanced education in related field (e.g. Kinesiology, Physical Education, Health and Fitness degree; college diploma in health and fitness or related discipline); minimum three years experience instructing/supervising exercise programs;
❑ or are a PE teacher/professor with fitness course or on-the-floor (in-the-water) experience in the certification course module(s) you wish to teach;
❑ or have a minimum of three to five years experience in the field as a fitness instructor or personal trainer in the certification course module(s) you wish to teach.

2. Submit two reference letters attesting to your professional experiences and contact us to determine career interests and direction;
3. Purchase CFES Educator Kits for the Fitness Knowledge Course and leadership designations(s) you are teaching;
4. Be assigned CFES Master Educator* to shadow and assist. Pass apprentice Educator steps. For each course you would like to teach:
a. Observe, teach class components, receive feedback and pass Educator Skills Assessment with Master Educator; Receive good to excellent on all student evaluations. Review educator experiences in your first course.
*A fee may be paid to Master Educator for time to observe and evaluate your educator skills. The fee will be negotiated between you and will be determined by the amount of time spent in evaluation.

5. Maintain CPR-A (minimum); Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid and required annual liability insurance;
6. Submit to CFES: CFES SAE and/or Educator Certification Application form and collateral documents.
7. Receive CFES Educator Certification.

CFES Educators receive a comprehensive teaching resource kit for each CFES course. Educator Kits include: a detailed course agenda, ample variety of teaching tools, techniques and supplies for every aspect of the course from start to finish. The CFES Fitness Knowledge Course, Aquafit Instructor Course, Group Fitness Instructor Course, Weight Training Instructor Course and Personal Trainer Course Educator Kits also have Educator Kit PowerPoints for classroom presentations.

CFES Educator Recertification Requirements

Candidate is to successfully complete the following program steps or present an equivalent*:
1. Teach a minimum of one course per year per leadership designation*;
2. Attend eight hours CFES recognized professional development workshops*;
3. Have a annual review meeting with CFES to provide feedback, new ideas, goals for professional advancement;
4. Be visible on CFES website. Required: professional bio summary and a paragraph on why you are working with CFES; Optional: head and shoulders photos* and/or videos*; Suggestions — provide written or videoed evaluation testimonials from students*; provide written or video* submissions of your workshops, courses, lectures, publication and promotion;
5. Maintain CPR-A (minimum); Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid and liability insurance;
6. Submit to CFES: CFES SAE and/or Educator Recertification Application form and collateral documents;
7. Receive CFES SAE and/or Educator recertification.

* Important: Testimonies using a student’s name, photos and video signed permission needed. Both students and educators need to sign a CFES Model Release Form providing CFES permission to present written testimonies, photos and videos on the CFES website, print promotion and/or in our publications. Forms are found on CFES website.

College/University Continuing Education, Fitness Club Managers, Recreation Centre Program Directors
