This course teaches the practical skills and professional ethics required to be a successful group fitness instructor. Attendees will learn how to program plan for all class sections and fitness levels in a safe and caring atmosphere, as well as proper use of space, group formations and/or choreography skills. Stability ball, step, and free weight exercise ideas/techniques in both high and low impact situations will also be taught. This course will provide ample teaching opportunities throughout the course itself and supplemental practicum components following course completion.
In this course you will learn:
To program plan for all class sections and fitness levels for group exercise classes.
How to create a safe and caring atmosphere.
Stabilization ball, step, free weights exercise ideas and techniques.
Cueing and working with music.
Use of space and group formations and choreography skills.
How to teach low/high impact group exercise aerobics classes and use equipment.
Communication skills and professional ethics.
Students will be given ample teaching opportunities within the course and practicums.
Please note that upon successful completion of the course, participants will be required to schedule a practical evaluation with the instructor.
Prerequisite: CFES Fitness Knowledge Course or Human Anatomy equivalency
